Mr. Coughlin is registered with the California State Corporate Commissioner as an Investment Advisor. In this capacity he provides comprehensive financial planning for clients that are retired as well as those who have recently lost a spouse, parent or close relative. Mr. Coughlin also offers tax-planning assistance designed to optimize a clients distributions from qualified plans and IRAs. He furnishes the same distribution planning support to other financial and estate planning professionals on a consulting basis. George Coughlin has delivered numerous presentations to various professional organizations on the topic of distributions from qualified retirement plans and IRA's. Those audiences include CLU's, CFP ® practitioners, EA's, CPA's and members of the State Bar of California. The estate and trust sections of four county bar associations have invited George back for encores. His handout material continually receives high marks for its ability to convey complex ideas that assist other professionals to help their own clients.Mr. Coughlin is a Registered Principal of ePLANNING Securities, Inc., which is a registered broker/dealer as well as a member of the NASD and SIPC. He is further licensed by the State of California (license number 0423537) as a life and disability insurance agent and a variable contract agent. Mr. Coughlin is a 1965 graduate of California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and earned his MBA at the University of Oregon two years later. In May 1978, George became a CFP ® practitioner. He completed work on his second masters degree, an MS in Taxation, at Golden Gate University in December 1982.George Coughlin is a Past President of the East Bay Chapter of the Financial Planning Association and the Estate Planning Council of Diablo Valley. From 1994 to 1997 he served as the public member of the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Advisory Commission for the California Bar Associations Board of Legal Specialization. Immediately thereafter, George served three years as the public member of the Taxation Law Advisory Commission. In September 2005, he finished a five-year term as a public member of the Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Coughlin resides with his family in Alamo, California. His civic activities are centered on the Boy Scouts of America. During an adult Scouting career that began in 1969, George has volunteered over eight years as a Scoutmaster for three troops and served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for another at the World Jamboree in Australia. His numerous contributions to Scouting have been recognized with a District Award of Merit. In his leisure moments, he loves to fly fish, tie flies and backpack. Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the
certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL
PLANNER and the federally registered CFP
(with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete
CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.
